"The Drexel Digital Museum Project: Historic Costume Collection" is a Web presentation of historic costumes housed at Drexel University. The project is a joint initiative between the College of Information Science & Technology and the College of Media Arts & Design (Kathi Martin of CoMAD is the director of the project). The impetus for the project has been the need to provide access to Drexel University's rich collections of art, textiles, clothing, ceramics and artifacts from around the world.
A technical challenge of the project is to provide an aesthetic and pleasurable digital environment for viewing the wealth information of historic collections. The project thus serves as a test case for studies in HCI and information architecture design. Currently, we are focusing on thesaurus and navigation design.
Some items from the collection are viewable in 3D panorama. See it here for yourself.
